Shooting film April 2016
Shot with my Nikon FM and the 50mm 1,2F. This was shot wide open at 1.2 I really love the 50mm 1.2F lens with black and white film but getting things in focus is really difficult.
I will always love shooting film and I will always try to shoot a roll or two of film a month. I don’t use film in my work but more in my personal life as I like the way it makes me think and feel when I am shooting. Most of the shots I take are from my everyday life, they are more snap shots than anything else. Film photography is more about having some fun and relaxing while I shoot and the images reflect that.
A new family arrived this month, so I was really busy taking care of my little monster
This month shooting was fun but I was a little disappointing as both my film cameras failed me and broke down once I got the film back.

Walking in Chinese parks is always fun, no matter how many times you go there, there is always something new to see or shoot.
I love Chinese bridges. I always shoot them.
A lot of Chinese structures just look so much better in Black and White film.
This is the frame that the camera started to fail and I got horrible light leaks through all the frames from this point onward.
Almost all the frames from this one was not usuable but what can you expect from a camera that is so old. I will have to send the camera to be repaired and given a little TLC before I use it again.
This frame could be used but you can still see the light leak though. I guess I could photo shop the leak out but I don’t want to edit my film shots. I shoot film to relax, not to spend time editing on my computer.
I also took my Yashica Mat 128G to another park to do some shooting and this camera also kicked the bucket and went to camera heaven. I only got a few frames from the camera, and it looks like there was a problem with the film advance because most the film was blanket after a few shots.
The entrance to jiao shan park
Jiao shan is a really pretty park with lots to shoot and see. This is one of the main lakes in the park with some small temples around the edge of the lake.
My girlfriend posed for a quick photo for me. I was really curious how much dynamic range color film had when I shot this. I seldom shot color film and the only reason why I was shooting color film was because I got some free film.
At that was the last frame that I got. Unfortunately the camera broke just after this frame and gave me completely blank negatives. I am not sure now though, but I will most likely buy another Yashica Mat or maybe a hasselblad 500cm in the future as I enjoy the slow shooting that these cameras force on to you. I still have a Holga that I can shoot film with, so maybe next month film post will be some shots from the Holga. I am not sure though, perhaps I will go buy a new film camera but buy a new film camera in China is not so easy though as I will have to pay foreigner price if I buy the camera in person, or if I send someone to buy the camera for me, then I have no control over the quality of the camera. But time will tell if I go shopping or not. Music season is only weeks away from starting in China now and I may not have the time to go shopping.
