Shanghai graffiti 2015

Graffiti or street art is a rare sight in mainland China, and is generally erased as soon as it is found. One of the few places to find some street art in Shanghai is at Moganshan road but there are always rumors that the government wants to tear these walls down. Last month I heard that the walls were going to be torn down again, so I headed off to Shanghai to shoot some street art again.

I love the rich color and atmosphere that street art can bring to a neighborhood.

One of the appealing aspects of street art or graffiti, is that it is temporary. It can change at any time. Each time you come back to an area, there is always something new to look at.

I hope the rumors about Moganshan road in Shanghai are false and the walls are not torn down. I will go back next year to have a look again and if I am lucky, I will find some new and interest pieces of art.
